About the space.

The Harmonie Club traces its origins to 1849 as a German social club. From the time the club occupied its lavish new home in December in 1895, it gained prominence in the cultural life of Detroit. It carried out its original purpose to foster musical activities and good fellowship and continued to be a noted musical and social organization down to the mid-twentieth century. It is a fitting tribute that this historic building will now be occupied by a new and modern cultural institution.

  • Current proposed reuse of the building relies heavily on its historic use. This allows for an approach to the rehabilitation of the building which is the least destructive to the existing historical features.
  • When complete, the Harmonie Club will be a multi-level event space including a bar/restaurant in the lower level
  • The renovation will be completed in the spring of 2022 and include a complete core and shell renovation of the building and will house an Immersive Projection Art destination
